It is amazing how easy it is to reach out and touch our fan base. Blogs and Ezines can be sent straight to Gmail which can be read from most smart phones. What a great time to be alive!

VERY cool idea and yes I want to read the book -- don't have an iPhone -- yet! My new novel Seeing Red is being serialized on the Huff Post, but meanwhile, I am writing a couple of crazy time travel, murder mystery books-by-blog, one is "Sister Mysteries," http://www.renata1883.blogspot.com, I want to do what Mark has done with Machine #69! EXCELLENT IDEA, Mark can I pay you to show me how to do this? In Japan, novels by phone are the rage!

My take is right here: http://badbadbad.net So far, the
transmedia creative activity has been lotsa fun. Ask me after the
summer tour (book launches in late May) if the efforts helped grow
an audience beyond the "lit" crowd.

Three cheers for Ahsahta! It's envigorating to hear Janet Holmes describe her clear vision for a press that challenges expectations and delights and surprises readers with remarkable work from writers we might otherwise not hear from.

I think some of the best books I've read follow a character from early childhood to early adulthood. One in particular stands out: "Body and Soul" by Frank Conroy. It's about a boy named Claude and his journey from being a young musician to a famous composer. It's the kind of story that you can't stop reading because from page one you care about the main character, which means you're completely invested in finding out what happens to him. On a technical level, I don't know why it works so well, but as a reader I think it has a perfect combination of art and action. Plus the author gets inside the head of the musician and reveals what it's like to intimately understand music, which seems really hard to do as well as he's done it. I just really love this book.
